Our Story
The Gemological Institute of Malaysia (GIM) is a private higher education institution, owned and operated by Gemological Institute of Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (formerly known as Oasis College), and approved by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. GIM holds the distinction of being the first private college in Malaysia to offer gemology programmes, and has since built a reputation as a forward-thinking institution committed to academic excellence and industry relevance.
Founded in 2007 by Late Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Ng Teck Fong, a respected businessman, philanthropist, and prominent leader in the Malaysian Chinese community. GIM was established with a vision to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical expertise in the jewellery and gemology fields.

In 2024, GIM entered a new phase of growth under new ownership and management. The institution is now led by a team of experienced academicians and industry professionals with more than two decades of expertise in the education sector. Together, they are focused on expanding GIM’s academic offerings and strengthening its role in both the Malaysian and global educational landscapes.
GIM currently offers a range of Certificate and Diploma programmes in areas such as Gemology, Jewellery Design, Business, and Retail Management. Our curriculum integrates strong academic fundamentals with industry-relevant skills and extensive hands-on training, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to thrive in today’s competitive workforce. Located at 1, Jalan 2/131A, Batu 5 1/2, Jalan Klang Lama, our campus features state-of-the-art facilities, including gemological labs and design studios, ensuring students gain real-world skills.
